Goumi Community Guidelines
Last updated: 15 September 2026
The Community tab in Goumi is for cooks showing each other what they made. These guidelines explain what belongs there, what doesn't, and what happens when someone crosses the line. They apply to every post, photo, and comment. They sit alongside our Terms of Use — if the two ever disagree, the Terms win.
1. Post your own cooking
Share food you actually made. Photograph your own plate, your own kitchen, your own mistakes. Don't pass off someone else's photo as yours, and don't repost images you found online. If you adapted a recipe from somewhere, a quick credit in the caption is good manners and good cooking culture.
2. Be decent to each other
Cooking is personal, and someone's first attempt at a dish took courage to post. Criticism is fine when it's about the food and offered in good faith. These are not:
- harassment, pile-ons, or repeatedly targeting someone;
- hate speech or slurs, or attacks based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, age, gender, or sexual orientation;
- threats of violence, or wishing harm on anyone;
- sexual harassment or unwanted sexual comments.
3. Keep it about food
This is a cooking community, not a general feed. Please don't post:
- nudity or sexual content;
- graphic violence, gore, or animal cruelty;
- content promoting self-harm, disordered eating, or extreme restriction;
- illegal drugs, weapons, or regulated goods;
- content that has nothing to do with food or cooking.
Butchery, hunting, and fishing content is welcome when it's part of preparing food and isn't gratuitous.
4. Don't spam or sell
No bulk or repetitive posting, engagement farming, affiliate link dumps, giveaways, or driving people off to sell them something. Mentioning a product you genuinely used is fine; turning your posts into an ad channel is not.
5. Be careful with food-safety claims
People will cook what you post. Don't present unsafe practice as fact — undercooking meat to temperatures that aren't safe, unsafe home canning or fermenting, foraging identifications you aren't sure of, or storage advice you've invented. If you're describing something that needs care, say so.
Goumi's own AI-generated recipes and nutrition figures are estimates too. Nothing in the community is medical or dietetic advice.
6. Respect other people's privacy
Don't post identifiable photos of other people without their consent, and never post anyone's personal information — address, phone number, workplace, or anything else that could be used to find or contact them. That includes your own: your posts are visible to everyone using Goumi.
7. One account, honestly used
Don't impersonate another person, brand, or business, and don't run multiple accounts to get around a restriction or manufacture engagement.
8. Reporting and blocking
Every post and comment has a … menu:
- Report — tell us something breaks these guidelines. The content disappears from your feed straight away, and our team reviews it. Reports are private: the person you reported is never told who reported them.
- Block — stop seeing someone entirely. Their posts and comments vanish for you, and yours for them. You can unblock later in Settings.
Please report rather than replying — arguing with a bad post just spreads it.
9. What happens when these are broken
Depending on what happened and whether it's a pattern, we may:
- remove the post or comment;
- remove your ability to post, comment, or like;
- suspend or terminate the account (see Terms of Use, section 9).
Serious cases — threats of violence, sexual content involving minors, or anything else illegal — are removed immediately and reported to the relevant authorities.
If you think we got it wrong, email hello@goumi.ai and a person will look at it.
